The scripts are left on one side and the acting on stage begins. This is where the words on the page come to life and it\u2019s beautiful. The intonation, the expression, the placement, they all start to bring life, to what has been to date, a two dimensional play.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
It\u2019s a cold night and the cast are in hats and scarves, jeans and jumpers and yet, when they speak they are priests and soldiers and the son of God.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
Repetition. Repetition. Repetition. It\u2019s how these townsmen create such a believable and moving reenactment of the Easter story.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
These are playful people who laugh and tease each other and bring joy into a room, but when the action starts the atmosphere changes and no longer are we watching the same people. This swept me away last year and I can see it hasn\u2019t lost its magic. Will I ever tire of this?<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
As I watch them perform, it\u2019s as though the words they speak are creating their costumes, as they grow into the skins of the men they are playing. More confidence, and greater surety of who they are becoming.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

The attention to detail at such an early stage is breathtaking. Even those with non speaking parts are given specific instruction, purpose and held accountable for their performance. Their dedication is phenomenal.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
Sicilians are known for their chatter and a cacophony of sound can always be found wherever they are – it\u2019s life giving – but there were moments tonight where you could hear a pin drop and the silence, because of the power of their performance, was so very loud.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

E LE PAGINE PRENDONO VITA<\/div>\n
Le sceneggiature sono messe da parte e la recitazione sul palco ha inizio. Questo \u00e8 dove le parole delle pagine prendono vita ed \u00e8 bello. L’intonazione, l’espressione, il posizionamento, tutto inizia a dare vita a ci\u00f2 che \u00e8 stato fino ad oggi, un gioco bidimensionale.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

E ‘una notte fredda e il cast \u00e8 in cappelli e sciarpe, jeans e maglioni, eppure quando parlano sono sacerdoti e soldati e il figlio di Dio.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Ripetizione. Ripetizione. Ripetizione. \u00c8 cos\u00ec che queste persone creano una rievocazione cos\u00ec credibile e commovente della storia di Pasqua.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
Queste sono persone che scherzano, che ridono e si prendono in giro a vicenda e portano gioia in una stanza, ma quando parte il copione l’atmosfera cambia e non vediamo pi\u00f9 le stesse persone.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Questo mi ha lasciato senza fiato l’anno scorso e per quanto io possa vedere, non ha perso la sua magia. Mi stancher\u00f2 mai di questo?<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Mentre li guardo esibirsi, \u00e8 come se le parole che pronunciano stiano creando i loro costumi, come se nella loro carne stiano crescendo gli uomini che stanno impersonando. Pi\u00f9 fiducia, pi\u00f9 sicurezza per ci\u00f2 che stanno diventando.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

L’attenzione ai dettagli in una fase cos\u00ec precoce \u00e8 mozzafiato. Anche quelli con parti non parlanti ricevono istruzioni specifiche sul senso delle loro azioni e sono resi consapevoli dell\u2019importanza della loro prestazione. La loro dedizione \u00e8 fenomenale.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

I siciliani sono noti per le loro chiacchiere e una cacofonia di suoni pu\u00f2 sempre essere trovata ovunque si trovino – \u00e8 la vita che d\u00e0 – ma ci sono stati momenti stasera in cui si poteva sentire persino cadere uno spillo, e il silenzio, a causa della potenza della loro performance, era cos\u00ec forte.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
