And the excitement and professionalism ramps up a level\u2026 Tonight when I walked into the rehearsal space there is some scenery ready for Herod, Herodica and Caifa. This seems to make it all a little more real.

In the background, some costumes are being handed out to those who have had their roles in previous years, and others will be made from scratch by the fabulous seamstresses.

The costumes were what captured me first last year. Incredible. Their attention to detail worthy of a huge production. No jewellery, no coloured hair on show. No glasses. Simple things in the scheme of things, but hugely important when you are reenacting such an event.

With props comes a different mood in the room. We are moving closer to Pasqua and these performances need to be perfect and it is clear that they are here tonight with the intent to make it all it is meant to be. How? With time, with seriousness, with repetition and the clarity of mind of the person they play.

Many new faces tonight, including apostles for the first time, who, whilst they have seen this performance since being children themselves, have not yet been part of this years performance. Non speaking parts are as important as all the others and the performance they give as powerful.

The crucifixion scene was powerful. Three young men walked onto the stage but as they speak they become three men on the edge of death, perhaps hoping for a reprieve, but we all know this was never going to happen.

After seeing this last year I know how powerful this scene is; the location, the acting, the seriousness of those watching and the believability of what was before us. Prayers were being whispered, voices low and tears flowing – the crowd are as much a part of this scene as the actors before me tonight.

This rehearsal moved everything up to a whole new level – this is going to be quite a performance.

COSTUMI E OGGETTI DI SCENA
E l’eccitazione e la professionalit\u00e0 crescono di livello… Stasera quando sono entrata nella stanza delle prove c\u2019erano gi\u00e0 alcune scenografie pronte per Erode, Erodiade e Caifa. Questo rende tutto un po’ pi\u00f9 reale.

Sullo sfondo, alcuni costumi vengono distribuiti a coloro che hanno avuto i loro ruoli negli anni precedenti, e altri saranno realizzati ex novo dalle favolose sarte.

I costumi mi hanno colpita per la prima volta l’anno scorso. Incredibile. La loro attenzione ai dettagli \u00e8 degna di una grande produzione. Niente gioielli, niente capelli colorati in mostra. Niente occhiali. Cose semplici nel complesso, ma molto importanti quando si rievoca un evento del genere.

Con gli oggetti di scena tutto cambia nella stanza. Ci stiamo avvicinando alla Pasqua e queste prove devono essere perfette ed \u00e8 chiaro che chi \u00e8 presente stasera lo \u00e8 con l’intento di rendere tutto come deve essere. Come? Con il tempo, con seriet\u00e0, con la ripetizione e la lucidit\u00e0 mentale dei personaggi che interpretano.

Molti volti nuovi stasera, tra cui gli apostoli per la prima volta, che, pur avendo visto questa performance fin da bambini, non hanno ancora fatto parte di questa rappresentazione nella loro vita. I personaggi che non parlano sono importanti quanto tutti gli altri, cos\u00ec come la loro potente interpretazione.

La scena della crocifissione \u00e8 stata potente. Tre giovani sono saliti sul palco, ma battuta dopo battuta diventano tre uomini sull’orlo della morte. Forse sperano in una sospensione della loro pena, ma sappiamo tutti che questo non sarebbe successo.

Dopo aver visto questa scena l\u2019anno scorso so quanto sia potente; la posizione, la recitazione, la seriet\u00e0 di coloro che guardano e la credibilit\u00e0 di ci\u00f2 che \u00e8 stato prima di noi.
Le preghiere ora sono sussurrate, le voci sono basse e le lacrime scorrono – la folla fa parte di questa scena tanto quanto gli attori davanti a me durante le prove stasera.

Queste prove hanno portato tutto ad un livello completamente nuovo – questa promette di essere una bella performance.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
