So far my experience of this Easter story has been very much about the men, but then last night entered Herodias, the wife of Herod.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

I didn\u2019t understand all the conversation between the two of them, but something told me from her tone, her body language and the words I could translate, she was very much the influencer, the strength, the power in this relationship.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
There are not many women taking centre stage in the Easter story, but the ones who are in attendance are very much the strong type. The wives of the soldiers, the mother of Jesus, the women who were appalled by the violence and the actions that led to the death of the son of god. Don\u2019t get me wrong, they were not all sweetness and light, take Herodias for example, who could send someone to their death without taking a breath, but they did what they felt was right and were comfortable in doing what it took to achieve that.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

I know from my experience so far in Sicily, that the women here are strong and something tells me that the women in this time of history were no different. In such a seemingly male dominated world, they had to make themselves heard, and achieved it with strength and guile and manipulation of the best kind to ensure that what took place was done how they wanted, even if they seemingly had no real power.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

L\u2019ENTRATA DELLE DONNE<\/div>\n
Finora la mia esperienza della storia di Pasqua \u00e8 stata molto centrata sugli uomini, ma ieri sera \u00e8 finalmente entrata Erodiade, la moglie di Erode.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Non ho capito tutta la conversazione tra i due, ma qualcosa mi ha detto, dal suo tono, il linguaggio del suo corpo e le parole che ho potuto tradurre, che \u00e8 lei la vera influencer, la forza, il potere in questo rapporto.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Non ci sono molte donne al centro della storia di Pasqua, ma quelle che sono presenti sono le donne forti. Le mogli dei soldati, la madre di Ges\u00f9, le donne sconvolte dalla violenza e dalle azioni che hanno portato alla morte del figlio di Dio. Non fraintendetemi, non erano tutte uno zuccherino, prendete Erodiade per esempio, che poteva mandare qualcuno a morte senza pensarci due volte, ma hanno fatto quello che ritenevano giusto e si sentivano a proprio agio nel fare quello che serviva per raggiungerlo.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

So dalla mia esperienza finora in Sicilia, che le donne qui sono forti e qualcosa mi dice che le donne di quel tempo non erano tanto diverse. In un mondo cos\u00ec dominato da uomini, dovevano farsi sentire, e conquistarlo con forza, astuzia e manipolazione della migliore specie per essere sicure che ci\u00f2 che accadeva fosse fatto come volevano, anche se apparentemente non avevano un vero potere.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
